STANDING COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RESOURCES

10:00 A.M.

CHAIRMAN

Mr. Chuck Porter

MR. CHAIRMAN: Order, please. I'll call the meeting of the Human Resources Committee to order. On the agenda today is the approval of the appointments for the agencies, boards and commissions. We'll start with members introducing themselves.

            [The committee members introduced themselves.]

MR. CHAIRMAN: We'll get started - if you could turn your phones to the off position, if you haven't already, or to vibrate for a few minutes, while we work through the ABCs.

We'll start with the Board of Directors of the Waterfront Development Corporation Limited. Ms. MacFarlane.

MS. KARLA MACFARLANE: Mr. Chairman, I move that Michael Roberts and Lydia S. Bugden be approved as directors of the Waterfront Development Corporation Board of Directors.

MR. CHAIRMAN: The motion has been made. Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.

            The motion is carried.

The Department of Justice. Mr. Wilson.

MR. GORDON WILSON: Mr. Chairman, I move that the following be approved as members of the Police (RCMP) Advisory Boards: David Brown, Municipality of the County of Annapolis; Garry Michaud, Municipality of the County of Kings; Esther Boyd, Municipality of Cumberland County; P. Earl Muise, Municipalities of the District of Argyle and the District of Yarmouth; Richard Crowell, Municipality of the District of Barrington and the Town of Clark's Harbour; Kenneth P. Zwicker, Municipality of the District of Lunenburg; Charlene Thompson, Municipality of Pictou County; Madaline Libbus, Municipality of Richmond County; Angela Thurber, Town of Digby; Richard L. Nowe, Town of Mahone Bay; Roderick MacDonald, Town of Oxford; Trace Wise, Town of Parrsboro; Victor Smith, Town of Pictou; and Terry Hennigar, Town of Wolfville.

MR. CHAIRMAN: It has been moved. Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.

            The motion is carried.

The Department of Labour and Advanced Education. Mr. Wilton.

MR. DAVID WILTON: Mr. Chairman, I move that Chris Musial and W. Dean Smith be approved as members of the Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone Memorial Scholarship Committee.

MR. CHAIRMAN: It has been moved. Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.

            The motion is carried.

That's all that's on the agenda for this morning. The next meeting is scheduled for May 31st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We have the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, as well as ABCs, on the agenda for that meeting - pending the House having risen at that point. We would assume that it may or may not, it's hard to say.

If the House is still in session for some reason, I guess we'll be doing ABCs and that will be all, so the witness is tentative at this point.

Before we adjourn, is there any further business? Hearing none, we stand adjourned.

[The committee adjourned at 10:04 a.m.]
