Explanatory Note

This Bill

(a) updates the name of the church;

(b) updates the eligibility of members to be trustees and to vote for the trustees; and

(c) confirms the church's constitution and bylaws.

An Act to Amend Chapter 211
of the Acts of 1902,
An Act to incorporate the Trustees of the Third Cornwallis
or Billtown Baptist Church, Kings County

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 The title of Chapter 211 of the Acts of 1902, An Act to incorporate the Trustees of the Third Cornwallis or Billtown Baptist Church, Kings County, is amended by adding "United" immediately after "Billtown".

2 Section 1 of Chapter 211 is amended by adding "(1)" immediately after the Section number and adding the following subsection:

    (2) The church is continued as a body corporate under the name "Billtown United Baptist Church".

3 Section 5 of Chapter 211 is amended by

(a) striking out "male"; and

(b) striking out "over twenty-one years of age" and substituting "of the age of majority".

4 Chapter 211 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 7 the following Section:

    8 The constitution and bylaws of the church in effect on the coming into force of this Section are ratified and confirmed, are deemed to have been in force from the time of their making and as amended from time to time, and may, subject to the other provisions of this Act, be amended from time to time by the church as provided in the constitution.
