Explanatory Note

This Bill excludes reasonable family and accessibility expenses incurred in relation to a disability, as defined by the Accessibility Act, of a candidate from the limit on the election expenses of the candidate.

An Act to Amend Chapter 5
of the Acts of 2011,
the Elections Act,
Respecting Expenses Incurred
in Relation to a Disability

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Steve Estey Act.

2 Subclause 166(i)(iiia) of Chapter 5 of the Acts of 2011, the Elections Act, as enacted by Chapter 8 of the Acts of 2020, is amended by adding “other than in respect of expenses referred to in subclause (ja)(v)” immediately after “expenses”.
