Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the installation of cooling systems in all seniors-designated buildings in the Public Housing Program without cost to seniors.

An Act to Amend Chapter 36
of the Acts of 2022,
the Housing Supply and Services Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 36 of the Acts of 2022, the Housing Supply and Services Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 22 the following Section:

    22A Within three months of the coming into force of this Section, every unit in the seniors-designated buildings in the Public Housing Program must have a cooling system at no cost to the occupant of the unit.

2 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
