An Act to Increase
the Heating Rebate Program
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 This Act may be cited as the Heating Rebate Program Increase Act.
"Minister" means the Minister of Service Nova Scotia;
"Program" means the Heating Assistance Rebate Program administered by the Department of Service Nova Scotia.
3 (1) Subject to Section 5, the Minister shall set the household income threshold for eligibility under the Program to $85,000.
(2) Subject to Section 5, the Minister shall set the rebate payable under the Program to $1,000.
4 Subject to Section 5, the Minister shall provide full rebates up to $1,000 to Program recipients who received less than $1,000 in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
5 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
