Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Governor in Council to make regulations regulating services that handle or transport human remains on behalf of funeral homes.

An Act to Amend Chapter 62
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Cemetery and Funeral Services Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 (1) Subsection 28(1) of Chapter 62 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Cemetery and Funeral Services Act, as amended by Chapter 1 of the Acts of 2004, Chapter 10 of the Acts of 2014 and Chapter 30 of the Acts of 2018, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (ka) the following clause:

    (kb) regulating services that handle or transport human remains on behalf of funeral homes;

(2) Section 28 of Chapter 62, as amended by Chapter 1 of the Acts of 2004, Chapter 10 of the Acts of 2014 and Chapter 30 of the Acts of 2018, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:

    (3) The Governor in Council shall make regulations respecting the matters referred to in clause (1)(kb) within six months of the coming into force of this subsection.
