An Act to Provide Volunteer Firefighters
with Medical First Responder Training

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Medical First Responder Training for Volunteer Firefighters Act.

2 In this Act, "Minister" means the Minister of Health and Wellness.

3 (1) Subject to Section 4, the Minister shall, upon application by a volunteer firefighter in the Province, pay the full cost for the volunteer firefighter to receive either basic or advanced medical first responder training, whichever the volunteer firefighter chooses.

(2) The Minister may make regulations designating a program, course or certification as basic or advanced medical first responder training for the purpose of subsection (1).

(3) The exercise by the Minister of the authority in subsection (2) is a regulation within the meaning of the Regulations Act.

4 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
