An Act to Provide Free Testing of Well Water

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Free Well-water Testing Act.

2 (1) Subject to Section 3, the Nova Scotia Health Authority shall offer free testing of well water at least annually to all residents of the Province who use well water for drinking or bathing.

(2) The testing referred to in subsection (1) must include analysis respecting

(a) alkalinity;

(b) aluminum;

(c) ammonia;

(d) antimony;

(e) arsenic;

(f) barium;

(g) boron;

(h) cadmium;

(i) calcium;

(j) chloride;

(k) chromium;

(l) colour;

(m) conductivity;

(n) copper;

(o) E. coli bacteria;

(p) fluoride;

(q) hardness;

(r) iron;

(s) lead;

(t) magnesium;

(u) manganese;

(v) nitrate;

(w) nitrite;

(x) pH;

(y) potassium;

(z) selenium;

(aa) sodium;

(ab) sulphate;

(ac) total coliform;

(ad) total dissolved solids;

(ae) total organic carbon;

(af) turbidity;

(ag) uranium; and

(ah) zinc.

3 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
