Agriculture Expansion Strategy Act

An Act to Expand Agriculture in Nova Scotia

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Agriculture Expansion Strategy Act.

2 In this Act,

"Department" means the Department of Agriculture;

"Minister" means the Minister of Agriculture;

"Strategy" means the Agriculture Expansion Strategy created under Section 3.

3 The Minister shall, within six months of the coming into force of this Act, consult with agricultural producers and industry to create an Agriculture Expansion Strategy for the Province.

4 The Strategy must contain

(a) clear targets for the expansion of agriculture in the Province; and

(b) an implementation deadline no later than January 1, 2025.

5 (1) The Minister shall make the Strategy publicly available by causing it to be posted on the website of the Department.

(2) The Department's website must be updated at least monthly to show progress made on meeting the Strategy's targets.
