Agricultural Marshland Conservation Act

Explanatory Note

This Bill

(a) makes the appointment of an Agricultural Marshland Conservation Commission mandatory;

(b) requires a minimum number of five members; and

(c) requires the Governor in Council to fill vacancies on the Commission within three months of the vacancy occurring.

An Act to Amend Chapter 22
of the Acts of 2000,
the Agricultural Marshland Conservation Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 (1) Subsection 7(1) of Chapter 22 of the Acts of 2000, the Agricultural Marshland Conservation Act, is repealed and the following subsection substituted:

    (1) The Governor in Council shall appoint an Agricultural Marshland Conservation Commission consisting of not fewer than five members.

(2) Section 7 of Chapter 22 is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (8) the following subsection:

    (9) A vacancy on the Commission must be filled within three months of the seat becoming vacant.
