Explanatory Note

This Bill freezes premium rates for crop and livestock insurance.

An Act to Amend Chapter 113
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 6 of Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act, as amended by Chapter 24 of the Acts 2004, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsections:

(3) Notwithstanding subsection (1) but subject to subsection (4), the premium rates established pursuant to subsection (1) may not be changed after the coming into force of this subsection.

(4) The money required for the purpose of subsection (3) must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
