Explanatory Note

This Bill creates an office of a Medical Procurement Officer who is responsible for a new Clinical Procurement Office.

An Act to Amend Chapter 12
of the Acts of 2011,
the Public Procurement Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 12 of the Acts of 2011, the Public Procurement Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 8 the following Section:

    8A (1) The Chief Procurement Officer shall appoint a person employed in the public service as the Medical Procurement Officer.

    (2) The Medical Procurement Officer shall administer the Clinical Procurement Office.

    (3) The Clinical Procurement Office is responsible for the procurement of all health-care services and supplies for health-care professionals or organizations in the Province, including medical commodities, supplies and medical equipment.
