An Act to Provide Direct Assistance
to Nova Scotian Households

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Direct Assistance to Nova Scotians Act, 2022.

2 In this Act, "Minister" means the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board.

3 (1) Subject to Section 4, and no later than September 1, 2022, the Minister shall pay $500 to all households in the Province with a household income below $70,000 per year.

(2) The Minister shall establish criteria to determine what constitutes a household for the purpose of subsection (1).

4 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
