Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to ensure that emergency calls to 911 from within Nova Scotia go directly to an answering point within Nova Scotia.

An Act to Amend Chapter 4
of the Acts of 1992,
the Emergency "911" Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 5 of Chapter 4 of the Acts of 1992, the Emergency "911" Act, as amended by Chapter 10 of the Acts of 1999 (Second Session) and Chapter 15 of the Acts of 2019, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (e) the following clause:

    (ea) ensuring that calls to 911 from within the Province go directly to a public safety answering point that is part of the NS 911 service;
