An Act Respecting
Training for Green Jobs

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Green Jobs Training Act.

2 (1) The Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development and the Minister of Advanced Education shall collaborate to develop and implement a policy that enhances green energy training in the Province's secondary and post-secondary education systems.

(2) The policy described in subsection (1) must be designed to

(a) create more opportunities for people to train for and enter the green job sector in the Province;

(b) encourage newcomers to train for and enter the green job sector in the Province, including people who currently work or previously worked in the non-renewable energy sector;

(c) bring more diversity into the green job sector in the Province;

(d) introduce curriculum changes that bring at least 130 green energy training programs into the Province's secondary and post-secondary education systems;

(e) bring green energy training to at least 17 schools in the Province; and

(f) provide green energy training to at least 20,000 students in the Province.

(3) The curriculum changes described in clause (2)(d) must include green energy training programs that teach secondary and post-secondary students about

(a) solar energy installation;

(b) wind energy installation;

(c) heat pump installation;

(d) home efficiency programs; and

(e) battery storage.
