Explanatory Note

This Bill lowers from eight to five the minimum number of members of a school board as determined by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
of the Acts of 1995-96,
the Education Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 42(1) of Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1995-96, the Education Act, is amended by striking out "less than eight" in the second line and substituting "fewer than five".

2 For greater certainty, Section 1 applies to a determination made by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board pursuant to subsection 42(3) of the Education Act upon an application pursuant to Section 43 of that Act, whether the application was made before or after the coming into force of this Act.
