Explanatory Note

This Bill permits renewable energy providers to sell directly to customers.

An Act to Amend Chapter 25
of the Acts of 2004,
the Electricity Act,
Respecting Renewable Energy Providers

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 25 of the Acts of 2004, the Electricity Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 4 the following Section:

4A Notwithstanding any enactment, a renewable energy producer may sell electricity directly to a customer.

2 Subsection 5(1) of Chapter 25 is amended by adding immediately after clause (d) the following clause:

(da) respecting renewable energy producers' authority to sell directly to customers;
