Explanatory Note

This Bill corrects the numbering of references to the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter in An Act to Implement HRM by Design which amends the Charter.

An Act to Amend Chapter 41
of the Acts of 2008,
An Act to Implement HRM by Design

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 2 of Chapter 41 of the Acts of 2008, An Act to Implement HRM by Design, (which amends Chapter 39 of the Acts of 2008, the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter) is amended by striking out "218" in the first line and substituting "209".

2 Section 3 of Chapter 41 is amended by(a) striking out "240" in the second line and substituting "231"; and (b) striking out "240A" in the first line of proposed Section 240A and substituting "231A".

3 Section 4 of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "244" in the first line and substituting "235".

4 Section 5 of Chapter 41 is amended by

(a) striking out "254" in the second line and substituting "245";

(b) striking out "254A" in the first line of proposed Section 254A and substituting "245A";

(c) striking out "254B" in the first line of proposed Section 254B and substituting "245B"; and

(d) striking out "254C" in the first line of proposed Section 254C and substituting "245C".

5 (1) Subsection 6(1) of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "255" in the first line and substituting "246".

(2) Subsection 6(2) of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "255" in the first line and substituting "246".

6 Section 7 of Chapter 41 is amended by

(a) striking out "255" in the second line and substituting "246";

(b) striking out "255A" in the first line of proposed subsection 255A(1) and substituting "246A"; and

(c) striking out "255" in the third line of proposed subsection 255A(2) and substituting "246".

7 Section 8 of Chapter 41 is amended by (a) striking out "256" in the first line and substituting "247"; and (b) striking out "255A" in the second line of proposed subsection (9) and substituting "246A".

8 Section 9 of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "259" in the first line and substituting "250".

9 (1) Subsection 10(1) of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "260" in the first line and substituting "251".

(2) Subsection 10(2) of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "260" in the first line and substituting "251".

10 Section 11 of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "272" in the first line and substituting "263".

11 Section 12 of Chapter 41 is amended by

(a) striking out "282" in the first line and substituting "273"; and

(b) striking out "282" in the first line of proposed Section 282 and substituting "273".

12 Section 13 of Chapter 41 is amended by striking out "283" in the first line and substituting "274".

13 This Act has effect on and after January 13, 2009, upon the Governor in Council so ordering and declaring by proclamation.
