Explanatory Note
This Bill amends the Homes for Special Care Act to prohibit long-term-care facilities from charging security deposits to seniors.
An Act to Amend Chapter 30
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Homes for Special Care Act
1 Chapter 203 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Homes for Special Care Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 13 the following Section:
13A (1) In this Section, "long-term-care facility" means a nursing home or residential care facility that provides long-term care.
(2) No long-term-care facility may charge a security deposit to a person sixty-five years of age or older.
