Explanatory Note

This Bill requires at least 30 minutes daily of physical activity at school for students from grades primary to 9.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
of the Acts of 1995-96,
the Education Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1995-96, the Education Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 142 the following Section:

142A Subject to the regulations, every school board shall ensure that all students in grades primary to nine, inclusive, in attendance at the schools within its jurisdiction have at least thirty minutes of physical activity at school during each school day.

2 Subsection 145(1) of Chapter 1, as amended by Chapter 5 of the Acts of 2002, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (d) the following clause:

(da) respecting physical activity for students;
