An Act to Require the Minister of
Immigration to Implement an
Apprenticeship Program for Newcomers
and Internationally Trained Persons

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Apprenticeship Program to Assist Immigration Act.

2 Subject to Section 4, the Minister of Immigration shall create an apprenticeship program to help newcomers to the Province and persons already trained in other countries with employment training, similar to the program implemented in the Province of Ontario for that purpose.

3 (1) The Governor in Council may make regulations

(a) respecting the program created by the Minister pursuant to Section 2;

(b) defining any word or expression used but not defined in this Act;

(c) that the Governor in Council considers necessary or advisable to carry out effectively the intent and purpose of this Act.

(2) The exercise of the authority in subsection (1) is regulations within the meaning of the Regulations Act.

4 The moneys required for the purpose of this Act shall be paid from moneys appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
