Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the installation of lights at crosswalks that display solid amber and then solid red lights when activated by a pedestrian instead of flashing amber lights.

An Act to Amend Chapter 293
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Vehicle Act,
Respecting Crosswalks

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows: 1 Section 90 of Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, as amended by Chapter 42 of the Acts of 2004, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (1) the following subsection:

(1A) Where the traffic authority erects lights at a crosswalk that are activated by pedestrians, the activation of the lights by a pedestrian must cause the display of a non-flashing amber light followed by a non-flashing red light.
