Explanatory Note

This Bill provides for the appointment of community crown attorneys in areas of the Province determined by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

An Act to Amend Chapter 21
of the Acts of 1990,
the Public Prosecutions Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows: 1 Chapter 21 of the Acts of 1990, the Public Prosecutions Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 8 the following Section:
8A There may be community crown attorneys within a geographic area determined by the Director of Public Prosecutions who are responsible to the Director of Public Prosecutions and who shall, in addition to their duties as a crown attorney, actively consult and work with law enforcement and stakeholders within the community crown attorney's geographic area.
