An Act Respecting
the Digby Rock Quarry and
North Mountain Mining

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Digby Mining Moratorium Act.

2 No person shall mine or extract mineral resources for the purpose of international or interprovincial export from the region beginning at Brier Island, and extending to Long Island and along North Mountain, in Digby County, and ending at Victoria Beach in Annapolis County.

3 Any person who contravenes Section 2 is guilty of an offence and is liable upon summary conviction to a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars for each day on which the offence is committed or continues to be committed.

4 (1) The Governor in Council may make regulations prescribing minerals that are exempt from Section 2.

(2) The exercise by the Governor in Council of the authority contained in subsection (1) is regulations within the meaning of the Regulations Act.
