Explanatory Note

This Bill provides that nothing in the Consumer Reporting Act prohibits consumers from obtaining access to the reports relating to them by use of the internet.

An Act to Amend Chapter 93
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Consumer Reporting Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 93 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Consumer Reporting Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 12 the following Section:

12A Nothing in this Act prohibits the authorized access by a consumer to the consumer's own consumer reports held by a consumer reporting agency through the use of the internet, as that term is defined in the Consumer Protection Act.
