Clause 1 amends the Preamble to the Remembrance Day Act.

Clause 2 substitutes the holidays-with-pay provisions of the Labour Standards Code for Section 6 of the Remembrance Day Act.

An Act to Amend Chapter 396
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Remembrance Day Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 The Preamble to Chapter 396 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Remembrance Day Act, is amended by

(a) striking out "and" in the fourth line of the first paragraph and substituting a comma;

(b) adding ", the Gulf War and international peace-keeping activities" immediately after "Conflict" in the fourth line of the first paragraph; and

(c) adding the following paragraph immediately after the second paragraph:

AND WHEREAS the Province has recognized the eleventh day of November as a general holiday under the Labour Standards Code;

2 Section 6 of Chapter 396 is repealed and the following Section substituted:

6 Sections 37 to 42 of the Labour Standards Code apply mutatis mutandis to an employee who is required to work on Remembrance Day.
