An Act Respecting Women's Health

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Women's Health Strategy Act.

2 In this Act,

"Minister" means the Minister of Health and Wellness;

"Task Force" means the Ministerial Task Force on Women's Health appointed under subsection 4(1).

3 The Government shall establish an Office of Women's Health, which is to be responsible for coordinating research, advocacy, training and education on women's health issues.

4 (1) The Minister shall, no later than January 1, 2026, appoint a Ministerial Task Force on Women's Health.

(2) The Task Force must include clinicians, policymakers and researchers involved in women's health and patients with first-hand experience of women's health issues.

(3) The Task Force shall, within one year of the appointment of its members, provide to the Minister a Women's Health Strategy that establishes actionable targets for

(a) improving access to healthcare for women;

(b) reducing wait times for women seeking healthcare; and

(c) any other matter that the Task Force considers appropriate.

(4) The Women's Health Strategy applies to individuals who are gender-diverse.

5 Upon receiving the Women's Health Strategy, the Minister shall table the Strategy in the House of Assembly if the House is then sitting or, where it is not then sitting, file the Strategy with the Clerk of the Assembly.

6 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
