SolarHomes Program Funding Act

An Act Respecting
Funding for the SolarHomes Program

WHEREAS the SolarHomes program administered by Efficiency Nova Scotia is a program to provide rebates of up to $3,000 for homeowners who install eligible solar panel systems;

AND WHEREAS Efficiency Nova Scotia stopped accepting new applications to the SolarHomes program on April 17, 2025;

AND WHEREAS homeowners whose projects are approved under the SolarHomes program are required to complete the projects by March 31, 2026, to be eligible for rebates under the program;

THEREFORE be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the SolarHomes Program Funding Act.

2 Subject to Section 3, the Government shall provide funding to Efficiency Nova Scotia to

(a) enable applications to the SolarHomes program to be reopened; and

(b) support the continued availability of rebates for homeowners under the SolarHomes program.

3 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
