Explanatory Note

This Bill prohibits public funds from going towards the construction or establishment of new beds in residential care facilities, homes for the disabled, homes for the aged or nursing homes operated for profit or gain.

An Act to Amend Chapter 203
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Homes for Special Care Act,
Respecting Public Funds

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 203 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Homes for Special Care Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 18A the following Section:

    18B No public funds may be used to support the construction or establishment of new beds in a residential care facility, a home for the disabled, a home for the aged or a nursing home operated for profit or gain.

2 This Act has effect on and after September 1, 2022.
