Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Nova Scotia Health Authority to allow the spouses of veterans in long-term care to become resident in the same facilities as their spouses.

An Act to Amend Chapter 32
of the Acts of 2014,
the Health Authorities Act,
Respecting Veterans Fairness

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 32 of the Acts of 2014, the Health Authorities Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 60 the following Section:

    60A Where the provincial health authority operates or funds a facility for the purpose of providing long-term care to veterans, the spouse of a veteran who is resident in the facility shall be allowed to become resident in facility on the same basis as if that spouse were a veteran.
