Explanatory Note

This Bill authorizes an increase of no more than seven judges in the Family Division of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia.

An Act to Amend Chapter 240
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Judicature Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 (1) Subsection 17(1) of Chapter 240 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Judicature Act, as enacted by Chapter 5 of the Acts of 1997 (Second Session) and amended by Chapter 28 of the Acts of 2000, is further amended by striking out "forty" in clause (d) and substituting "forty-seven".

(2) Subsection (1A) of Chapter 240, as enacted by Chapter 5 of the Acts of 1997 (Second Session) and amended by Chapter 28 of the Acts of 2000, is further amended by striking out "seventeen" in the last line and substituting "twenty-four".
