Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Health Protection Act to require the Governor in Council to make regulations respecting the health and safety standards for tattooing in Nova Scotia.

An Act to Amend Chapter 4 of the Acts of 2004,
the Health Protection Act,
to Establish Health and Safety Standards
for the Tattoo Industry

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 74 of Chapter 4 of the Acts of 2004, the Health Protection Act, is amended by

(a) adding immediately after subsection (1) the following subsection:

(1A) The Governor in Council shall make regulations respecting the health and safety standards for tattooing in the Province that model the Health Standards and Guidelines for Tattooing as established by Alberta Health and Wellness in June, 2002.

(b) striking out "subsection (1)" in the second line of subsection (2) and substituting "subsections (1) and (1A)".
