Explanatory Note

This Bill requires centre-line rumble strips to be placed on all controlled-access highways.

An Act to Amend Chapter 371
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Public Highways Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 371 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Public Highways Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 25 the following Section:

25A (1) Subject to subsection (3), centre-line rumble strips shall be placed on all controlled-access highways constructed pursuant to this Act.

(2) The Governor in Council may make regulations

(a) exempting, in whole or in part, a controlled-access highway from the provisions of subsection (1);

(b) defining any word or expression used but not defined in this Section;

(c) deemed necessary or advisable by the Governor in Council to carry out effectively the intent and purpose of this Section.

(3) The sums required for the purpose of this Section shall be paid out of money appropriated by the Legislature for that purpose.
