Clause 1 amends the definition of "Minister" in the Energy-efficient Appliances Act.

Clause 2 requires the Governor in Council to amend the energy-efficient standards in the regulations under the Energy-efficient Appliances Act to ensure that the standards being used in Nova Scotia are the most up-to-date in Canada.

An Act to Amend Chapter 2
of the Acts of 1991,
the Energy-efficient Appliances Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Clause 2(b) of Chapter 2 of the Acts of 1991, the Energy-efficient Appliances Act, is amended by striking out "Mines and" in the first line.

2 Chapter 2 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 5 the following Section:

5A The Minister shall, on or before January 1, 2006, and every two years thereafter, review the energy standards for designated appliances prescribed pursuant to subsection 5(1) along with similar standards prescribed in the other provinces of Canada and request the Governor in Council to amend, if necessary, the standards prescribed pursuant to subsection 5(1) to ensure that those standards are the most up-to-date in Canada.
