Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Minister of Finance to account for the expenditures of all money received from the Federal Government to be used for health care.

An Act to Provide for
Accountability in Health-care Spending

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Health-care Spending Accountability Act.

2 (1) Each year the Minister of Finance shall report on the funds received during that year from the Government of Canada to be spent on health care in the Province.

(2) The reporting referred to in subsection (1) shall indicate the amount of the funds received and the uses to which the funds were put.

(3) The reporting required under this Section shall be contained in the Estimates, the Public Accounts and the financial statements and forecasts prepared by the Minister of Finance.
