Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Maritime Link Act to permit the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to extend the time within which it must render a decision respecting the Maritime Link.

An Act to Amend Chapter 9
of the Acts of 2012,
the Maritime Link Act,
to Permit the Nova Scotia Utility and
Review Board to Extend Time

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 6 of Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2012, the Maritime Link Act, is amended by adding immediately after subsection (3) the following subsection:

(4) Notwithstanding any regulation made pursuant to subsection (1) or (2), the Review Board may

(a) extend the time within which it must make any decision pursuant to this Act or the regulations if, in its opinion, it requires more time to fully examine all issues before it; and

(b) where it extends any time pursuant to clause (a), extend any other time for doing anything if the time for doing it is affected by the extension of time pursuant to that clause.
