An Act to Develop and Implement
a Province-wide Nurse Practitioner Strategy

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Nurse Practitioner Strategy Act.

2 (1) Subject to Section 4, within one year of the coming into force of this Act, the Department of Health shall develop and implement a Province-wide nurse practitioner strategy.

(2) The strategy referred to in subsection (1) must be developed following consultation with district health authorities, health-care workers, the Nurse Practitioners Association of Nova Scotia and such other stakeholders as determined by the Minister of Health.

3 (1) The Governor in Council may make regulations

(a) defining any word or expression used but not defined in this Act;

(b) deemed necessary or advisable by the Governor in Council to carry out effectively the intent and purpose of this Act.

(2) The exercise by the Governor in Council of the authority contained in subsection (1) is regulations within the meaning of the Regulations Act.

4 The moneys required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of moneys appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
