Explanatory Note

This Bill requires retail establishments now permitted to be open on Sunday to be closed on holidays.

An Act to Amend Chapter 402
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Retail Business Uniform Closing Day Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 3 of Chapter 402 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Retail Business Uniform Closing Day Act, is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsections:

(3) The Retail Business Uniform Closing Day Regulations made October 6, 2006, apply only to a uniform closing day that is a Sunday.

(4) Notwithstanding anything in this Act, the Governor in Council may not make regulations that provide any further exceptions from the effect of this Section with respect to any uniform closing day that is not a Sunday.
