Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Wildlife Act to prohibit mining, logging and other prescribed activities in a game sanctuary.

An Act to Amend Chapter 504
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Wildlife Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 504 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Wildlife Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 14 the following Section:

14A Notwithstanding any other enactment, no

(a) mining, as defined in the Mineral Resources Act;

(b) removal of primary forest products, as defined in the Forests Act; or

(c) other prescribed activity,

shall be carried out within a game sanctuary.

2 Subsection 113(1) of Chapter 504, as amended by Chapter 9 of the Acts of 1993, Chapters 8 and 25 of the Acts of 1995-96, Chapter 11 of the Acts of 1998 and Chapter 46 of the Acts of 2001, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (d) the following clause:

(da) prescribing activities that may not be carried out in a game sanctuary;
