Explanatory Note

This Bill re-establishes the Nova Scotia Arts Council - Conseil des arts de la Nouvelle- É cosse and restores the Nova Scotia Arts Endowment Fund.

An Act to Re-establish
the Nova Scotia Arts Council

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Clause 2(f) of Chapter 2 of the Acts of 1995-96, the Arts Council Act, is amended by striking out "Education and Culture" in the first and second lines and substituting "Tourism, Culture and Heritage".

2 (1) Subsection 40(2) of Chapter 5 of the Acts of 2002, the Financial Measures (2002) Act, is repealed.

(2) Upon the coming into force of this Act, subsection 40(3) of Chapter 5 no longer has any force or effect.

3 The fund that was continued by Section 42 of Chapter 5 as a special fund pursuant to the Provincial Finance Act, and the proceeds therefrom, is restored as the Nova Scotia Arts Endowment Fund within the meaning of the Arts Council Act.

4 Section 43 of Chapter 5 is repealed.
