Halifax Needham Honourable Maureen MacDonald (NDP)
The Honourable Maureen MacDonald was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly as MLA for Halifax Needham in 1998 and was re-elected in 1999, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2013.
She is the NDP Leader in the House.
She has served as Minister of Health and Wellness, Minister of Finance, Minister of Gaelic Affairs and Minister of African Nova Scotia Affairs.
Prior to her election, Maureen was a faculty member at the Maritime School of Social Work, where she taught social policy and community development.
She is a member of the Assembly Matters, Human Resources, Internal Affairs and Public Accounts Committees.
