The Ordre de la Pléiade is an international honour bestowed by the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie.  The French speaking members of the Nova Scotia Section House of Assembly are members of l’Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie and are regrouped in the Nova Scotia Section.  The NS Section is a member of the Americas Region of l’Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie.  The mandate of l’Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie is to promote democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and allow for the prospering of the French language and cultural diversity around the world.

The Ordre de la Pléiade is divided into 5 categories - There are five classes (in descending order of precedence):

  1. Grand Cross (Grand-croix)
  2. Grand Officer (Grand Officier)
  3. Commander (Commandeur)
  4. Officer (Officier)
  5. Knight (Chevalier)
